Old Hollywood Style and Using False Eyelashes

December 30, 2008

Though I am really a minimalist with makeup for the most part and ususally opt for a natural look, I absolutely love the looks that this makeup diva uses. Check out her video on Hollywood Style (think 1940’s) Makeup.  Her tips on false eyelashes are definitely helpful and have me daydreaming about an event when I will be able to try them!

Easy Smokey Eyes

December 27, 2008

Thank goodness for YouTube.com. As much as I can appreciate the various articles and ebooks on makeup, there is just nothing as good as a video for me (or having someone else do my makeup!)

Here is a fantastic video on how to use makeup to get great looking smokey eyes.

Bright Eyes Even When You Are Tired

December 20, 2008

I admit that I am a late bloomer when it comes to makeup. Although I remember playing with different looks and styles when I was a teenager, somehow I stopped experimenting with makeup until the last few years. Recently I’ve learned a lot about the different looks and tricks you can pull off with mineral makeup, good brushes and the right concealer.

I think this video from www.TotalBeauty.com really gives some great advice about how to combat red/dark, stressed eyes to make your whole face look great. This video works with concealer, shadow and liner to brighten up event the most tired eyes.  Enjoy!

Minimizing Fine Lines With Concealer

December 17, 2008

If you are like me, you want to look your best whenever possible. And part of that as we get “more mature” is dealing with some of those fine lines that creep up around our eyes and mouth. Aside from having chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or any number of other spa treatments to treat your fine lines and other skin issues, you can also lessen the appearance of wrinkles and discolorations with concelaer.

Click here to watch this quick video on using concealer. The silicone base she mentions is like the Camera Ready product we use at Inspire. Please let us know if we can answer any other questions you have about using concealer or any of the techniques shown in the video!

How to Use Eyeliner Pencils

December 8, 2008

I remember back in the 80’s when I started wearing eyeliner…thick, poorly applied liquid eyeliner. Perhaps that wasn’t the best choice for a seventh grader, but it was what I did. Thank god there aren’t many pictures of that!

Now I am a lot more minimalistic in my eye makeup choices, usually opting for a somewhat natural look that often includes eye pencil or shadow. This video gave me some great ideas for making it look even better as I sure it will for you. If you can’t see the video below, click here to head to the page on TotalBeauty.com

Pucker Up – Plumping Your Lips

December 6, 2008

As someone with really full lips I don’t really need to use the techniques shown in this video for that reason. But I do like the polished end result on the model AND the idea that my lipstick will stay on longer than a minute without having to use that horrible bionic crap that super glues color to your flesh until you take it off with turpintine or paint thinner:-)

However, Michelle Obama recently told Chicago Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell why she chose to occasionally fore go a daily makeup regiment.

“I want people to get used to my face more naturally so that I don’t have to do that every day. Who’s got time to put eyelashes on and all that?”
